Managing Director Niamh Allen was shortlisted for the Energy & Sustainability category, which recognises individuals who are helping organisations to reduce their environmental impacts and to operate more responsibly. The event’s organiser, Lancashire Business View, notes that the category is open to those “contributing to improved efficiency, lower emissions or more sustainable ways of working through practical action and delivery.”

Niamh was shortlisted on the basis of her leading role at SST, her success in driving innovation and growth in new industry sectors, and her commitment to promoting skills-development across the business. The judges’ decision also took account of the quantifiable impacts of our work, which have included substantial year-on-year savings on clients’ water use, energy and carbon emissions.

The other successful awards nominee was our operations engineer Tayyib Jaffar-Ali. He was shortlisted for the Customer Service Award. The category is designed to recognise “individuals who consistently deliver outstanding customer services and create positive experiences for customers, clients or service users. It is for someone who consistently helps make things better for colleagues, customers and the organisation around them, regardless of job title or seniority.”

The description neatly encapsulates Tayyib’s role and his approach to his work. Colleagues have noted that he has a genuine desire to help people; to ensure that clients get the most from their systems, and that our technologies genuinely improve people’s lives.

Niamh notes: “I have had no end of positive feedback about his attitude and the way he interacts with clients and residents alike. He’s a fantastic asset to the team.”

The Sub36 Awards celebrate Lancashire’s next generation of business talent. They are designed to shine a spotlight on younger people who are delivering real change and help to shape the county’s future.

The overall winners will be announced at an awards evening on Friday 16 October at the Park Hall Hotel in Chorley.
