Case Study

Irrigation System

Sustainable Smart Technologies implemented a smart irrigation system as an upgrade from a basic hose timer. This new system achieved significant water savings, averaging 166 litres per day during summer and 261 litres on days when watering was unnecessary.

Before the installation, the clients adhered to a rigid watering schedule of 90 minutes twice a day for their wildflower meadow, regardless of weather conditions.

The smart system utilised soil moisture levels and weather forecasts to determine the necessity of irrigation. It would only water the meadow if the soil was dry and rain was not expected.

The savings achieved through this system were visualised using Neronis. This dashboard displayed not only the water savings but also provided insights into soil moisture levels, past irrigation events, and whether irrigation was required on a given day.
