Temperature and Energy Monitoring
Sustainable Smart Technologies monitors the indoor environment at an office building (1,900m2) in the North West. One of the first observations we made was that the building heating system was misconfigured.
The building was being heated to 22.5°C during the day, and this increased to 24.5°C overnight. After we brought this to the attention of the estates team, action was taken to reduce the set-point and to correct the night-time heating error. A conservative estimate for the direct savings of this would be £6,500 and 3,240kg CO2e per year.
Subject to the preferences of local staff and working patterns, further savings could be realised by lowering setpoints further to 19°C, as recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.
