Event Occupancy and Feedback
Sustainable Smart Technologies helped The Science and Technology Facilities Council to monitor occupancy and measure insights during the Daresbury Open Day event and beyond.
Before the installation, the client had no way of measuring footfall or collecting feedback about the events held at its facility. This made it hard to order supplies, publicise events and gauge levels of engagement.
To solve the problem, we deployed computer vision sensors at the entrances and exits and wireless buttons attached to eye-catching foamcore boards. With these interventions, we were able to show the client:
- The total attendance for the event.
- The maximum number of people in the building at one time.
- The number of people who thought that the demonstrations in the building were excellent.
- The number of people who said that the event had made them more enthusiastic about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
- The busiest period during the day.
This information was viewable live on the client’s existing dashboard whilst the event was taking place. After the event, the sensors continued to provide data about the day-to-day occupancy and feedback about the building environment.
By leveraging advanced technology and targeted interventions, we successfully empowered the Science and Technology Facilities Council to make informed decisions, enhance participant experiences, and garner continuous insights for future initiatives.
